A DREAM IN REALITY: THE MAKING

A dream that is steered with great passion and dedication is bound to achieve its realization.

Such was the dream of Shri Madhur Bajaj who recognized the rural talent of unknown innovators who with their small but significant contributions continue to strengthen India mile by mile.

This remarkable dream was discussed with Shri Madhur Bajaj with a management student, Dhiraj Kumar Rao who was pursuing his PGDM from Amity Business School, Noida at the CII National Conference on the 17th of May, 2005.

A potter is an expert artist who sketches the vision of the clay pot that he will carve out of raw clay and mud and then moulds the mud accordingly.

Such was the visionary guidance of Shri Madhur Bajaj and his description of the idea of recognizing rural talent at the national platform, that took the team of 5 students- Dhiraj Kumar, Anju Elsa John, Anjit Kaur Anand, Madhur Mall and Abhishek Majumdar, a time shorter than a year to convert the dream into reality.

Work started by culling out important innovations from concept papers and nomination entries of the Jamnalal Bajaj Awards, awards given to extraordinary individuals who contribute to make India in a comity of nations that believe in becoming strong by strengthening its people. “ The Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, a pioneer of social initiatives for the welfare of deprived and downtrodden. A brief was prepared spelling out the innovation, the process, and the benefits of the innovation when practiced and adopted.

Monthly reviews and corrective guidance by Shri Madhur Bajaj made all the positive impact and difference to the concept and helped this initiative to reach this stage.

This initiative now poses to become a national platform for venture capitalists and entrepreneurs to encourage innovators with jointly developing their revolutionizing innovations with business proposals as a way forward.

Our aim has been to sincerely be a facilitator to the rural innovators where the remarkable creations that they innovate are adopted in the entire country, perhaps even the world

SHRI MADHUR BAJAJ

Shri Madhur Bajaj, a dynamic citizen of the corporate world has been the director of Bajaj Auto Limited, Bajaj Electricals and Maharashtra Scooters Limited.

Vice – Chairman of Bajaj Auto, Shri Madhur Bajaj is recognized as one of India’s successful and outstanding leaders of the corporate world. It is the spirit of perseverance, dedication, commitment and diligence of a group of talented and highly motivated managers, technicians, designers and operations workforce that has created a worldwide community of satisfied customers for the Bajaj Group.

Mr.Bajaj has been the Past Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Western Region and presently serving as the National Council Member. He is also the President of SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, New Delhi; Vice-President of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), the apex industry association of Pune, as also a member of the Advisory Council of the Department of Management Studies of the University of Pune.

Mr Bajaj an Alumnus of the International Institute of Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland (1979), is a man of vision who believes that it is his people who make the organization so globally successful. It is with his unwavering dedication and strong will that have led the way to success.

DHIRAJ KUMAR RAO

Dhiraj Kumar Rao has been a student of Loyola School, Jamshedpur and a Bachelor of Business Administration graduate from Birla Instituite of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi before joining in Master of Business Administration (2004-2006) at Amity Business School, Noida.

Dhiraj was the Founder and President of the Interact Society which organized seminars and conclaves by inviting Captains of Industry and members of Chambers Of Commerce at Birla Instituite of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi

A Team Leader with organizational handling capabilities, Dhiraj’s hobbies include collecting and reading biographies and loves working on interesting projects on national and international importance.

Associated with this project initiative as a Founder Member and Head of Student Panel, he has been a pioneer in steering this dream into a reality under the visionary guidance of Shri Madhur Bajaj.

Dhiraj is currently working with the Dalmia Group in the cements division as a management trainee, marketing at Chennai.

ANJU ELSA JOHN

Anju Elsa John, has been a Computer Science Engineer from Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai and an MBA (Human Resources and Information Technology) from Amity Business School, Noida, With her technical background and team-driving skills, she has contributed significantly for the development of this project from the start. She is a dynamic person and loves to face challenges.

Her hobbies include reading fiction and collecting quotes.

Anju Elsa John is currently working with Tata Consultancy Services, Human Resource, New Delhi.

ANJIT KAUR ANAND

Those who try sincerely are invincible that is what I believe in and so is my name – Anjit.

A commerce graduate with a M.B.A degree in Marketing & International Business from AMITY Business School Noida, and I am currently working in Mumbai with AFL Logistics.

In a nut shell I am a positive person who believes only the dreams have a destiny.

My strengths – 3 C’s – Courage to take up the challenges, Confidence to come out of them with flying colors and Curiosity to learn more.

My hobbies include traveling, watching movies, and writing.

MADHUR MALL

Madhur Mall has been a student of Assembly of God Church School, Purulia, west Bengal and a Bachelor of Business Administration graduate from Birla Instituite of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi before joining in Master of Business Administration (2004-2006) at Amity Business School, Noida.

A serene and endured personality with the quality of perseverance, Madhur’s hobbies include sketching, creative drawing, and surfing the net.

Associated with this project initiative as a committed member, Madhur has drawn accolades for his creative inputs in the development of this idea.

Madhur is currently working with the Sify as a management trainee, marketing and sales at Mumbai.

ABHISHEK MAJUMDAR

“U may say I am dreamer, but I am not the only one “ - Yes, like every other person, I do dream. Dream to make it big. But I have a difference with others. I just don’t think to make it big , I also work hard to transform dreams into reality to be an achiever rather than a dreamer.

I , Abhishek Majumder , a graduate in Information Technology--- a guy full of enthusiasm and vivacity - and an MBA from India’s one of the most premier B-School : Amity Business School, Noida.

Specialized in Marketing and Operation Management, I served companies like Hindustan Times, Ray-ban in different projects and currently associated with Ozone Ayurvedics as a Regional Manager. A creative painter by liking I always cherish to discover unknown, untapped laurels and bring them under the brought daylight --- this passion of mine actually motives and drives me to get associated with Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation .
