VISION:
Jamnalal Bajaj Social Development Project has taken an initiative for helping innovators all over the country. This will be a national register of innovations which helps any individual to replicate these remarkable innovations in their own lives and convert them into viable business opportunities.
THE IDEA:
There have been several major transitions in our thinking about the way Indian villages can be made vibrant laboratories for innovations, entrepreneurship and social and economic change through networking. Right from the community development days, many experiments were done, some localized successes were achieved, but by and large the approach remained based on a patronizing and providing attitude.
There are several innovations that happen in the country and go unnoticed, and then there comes an NGO which nominates the individual, the individual wins a prize for his prized innovation and he and his revolutionizing innovation is forgotten in the same village where it had originated
As you may be aware, every year, over the last 25 years, the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, Mumbai has been giving the award, Jamnalal Bajaj Award for the Application of Science and Technology to Rural Development.
Since many of these worthy innovations lie cocooned in their respective villages and others cannot take advantage of it, we the students of Amity Business School, Noida under the visionary guidance of Shri Madhur Bajaj, Vice Chairman, Bajaj Auto and in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are developing a website which will help these remarkable innovations reach a larger audience, who could take advantage and replicate the benefits of their respective communities.
Say an innovation in Meghalaya can be replicated in Tiruvanathpuram and an innovation in Anand, Gujarat can create ripples in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
And why only should only think of India, a person in Brazil should salute the transforming innovation in India, can be able to replicate the innovation in their own villages hence creating a developing world.
THE WEBSITE:
- From the various literature received from the awardees and nominees Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation for the Application of Science and Technology to the Rural Development Award cull out the important innovation which are relevant and worthy of replication.
- If the descriptions are not sufficient for a person tapping the internet to understand and more importantly implement the project, then we write to the concerned institution for further details, which may include diagrams for easy understanding apart from detailed description.
- We as take permission from the innovators that we can put on the internet and also request them for sending us any updates or improvements or any new innovation that they may have done in the meanwhile.
- We in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are developing the website which will be a very different platform for innovators and NGOs from all over the country.
- The website will invite Research and Development (R&D) experts to work on the innovations with design experts and innovators so that the innovation can suit rural and urban needs.
- We also invite venture capitalists, banks and philanthropists with the innovators who would like to discuss viable business opportunities by producing the innovations on a mass scale for the benefit of the entire country.
